Back in the past, Orin (or Or'an in Gaelic) decided to teach this Elf halfling everything that he knows about herbs, medicine, Earth and its creatures, and of course how to wield the elven powers he inherited from his mother along with that blue crystal

So, here, William wants to prove to his teacher that he finally mastered his Herblore so much, he ends up....poisoning him.
Oh, well.
Immortal fairy is immortal so don't worry about antidotes and stuff
